Aaliyah Princess of R&B Movie Review

The US TV network Lifetime has released the biopic on the late R&B singer Aaliyah, produced by the talk show host Wendy Williams.

Lets begin from the start; this movie was not co-signed by the family or the people who have worked with the late singer and therefore the producers couldn't use any of her music for the movie.
When the movie aired last night, the social media, Aaliyah fans and music producers who were close to her were absolutely outraged and they had every right to be. Lets start with some of the things that got social media trending;

The cast:
This has to be most ridiculous casting I've ever witnessed in my life. Don't get me wrong, Lifetime movies are not Oscar worthy but they could have at least casted people that present main characters to the extent that the shit would look believable. As a fan, I am highly offended.

   Aaliyah                                                             Alexandra Shipp

R.Kelly                                                                     Clè Bennett

Missy Elliott                                                     Chattrisse Dolabaille

Timbaland                                                             Izaak Smith

The storyline:
Due the producers not having the family's blessings to make the movie, nobody involved in this film knew the late singer personally and of course not having the right to actually use any of Aaliyah's music, the film was below mediocre to say the least. The focus was on her controversial marriage to the legendary singer/songwriter/music producer R.Kelly and relationship with Rock A Fella co-founder Dame Dash. A great concept that was beyond poorly executed.

Black Twitter was giving their piece of mind last night while the movie was on, which is continuing up till now. But hey, all publicity is good publicity, right?
